Geumeoseonwon - A Zen Meditation Center

photo from Pomosa booklet
This area of the temple is generally closed to the public as it is devoted to Zen meditation. The hall is known as the Gold Fish Meditation Center; taking its name from the mountain and the temple. Fish are important symbols in Zen because they never close their eyes, even to blink; a virtue to be cultivated by Zen followers.
Records show that a meditation center was included in the 1613 reconstruction of the temple complex. This building dates to 1968.
