Hyeil Tongsan was the head of the Chogye order and a Son (meditation) master.  He was both educated and spent time teaching at Pomosa.  He was instrumental in reorganizing the administration of Korean buddhism after the Japanese occupation.  A world reknown buddhist scholar, he died at Pomosa in 1965.
